Bloomington, IndianaA young salesman came to my door one day, he was working the housing addition across the road from me. He came over and I talked with him and found out he was selling some home alarm systems. He noticed my Brinks Home Security sign in my yard. He went through his spill. They use a lot of jargon talk like 'EXCUSE ME' to gain superiority over others while you are just asking questions. Example: 'Sir' does this system replace my old system? EXCUSE ME! he will say.... They act like they don't hear you or something and then use that 'Excuse Me' with a tone thats almost rude and really after thinking about it, its really a pretty lame sales tactics they have come to rely on. Anyway here, I told him to sign me up! He only wanted to verify my home addy by getting my name, phone number and home addy... Something they obviously do when they submit all your paperwork after you have signed the papers and things. (THEY NEVER MENTION THE WORD CREDIT CHECK HERE). Don't stop reading here, I didn't sign anything or even buy anything!
AS HE STARTED TO GET THE PAPER WORK OUT I asked him again how much the cost was going to be. He said 45 a month. I said to him very bluntly 'Thats not what you told me when you started your spill here sir'. We went from like 30 some dollars a month to 45 in about 10 min and I thought something was fishy with his approach and I told him I was not interested and I would talk it over with my wife more and we would let him know. ( I was bailing for sure ) He called back the next day and I told him ' Look, I have 3 children, a lot of bills right now and after thinking about it, i was going to check other options before I committed'. NOTICE HERE: I did not sign anything, I did not give him my social security number, I never agreed to buy anything! JUST 1 DAYS LATER I get a notice via email from my credit monitoring program that someone has checked my credit. A new inquiry from APEX ALARMS shows up in the wash. People I was HOT! Would you be? I was so furious with this sales persons tactics that I went through the neighborhoods to track them down and confront them. I found them too. I called the local police, argued with these people and almost got into a fist fight with them. I DEMANDED the fix this NOW! They assured me they would but nothing ever came out of it. I think they was trying to pacify me so they could continue their solicitation in the neighborhood. Their sales crew chief (can't remember his name and really don't care) said he would fix everything). These people are crooks folks... I never got my contested letter that they was to sign so I could send it to Trans union and Equifax. These people will lie to you and these people will steal from you. The police will tell you its a civil matter if you go after them. Don't even let these nasty people on your property. If you do, you might just be sorry. Sorry like me that being nice led to a 'Dent' in my credit. Apex if your reading this, there is a hell, and this company is headed there, you can bet on it!

That is the tip of the Iceberg
I used to work for them but quit due to the lack of ethics that existed in this company. I really believed in the systems and that they protected homes which I still believe they do. The problem is they pay young college kids too much money to go out and sell these sytems and the college kids make bad criminal decisions at times.
Yes they do run your credit without your permission and they have all these tricky ways of doing it. They say they have to 'qualify you' , 'make sure you are the homeowner' , 'verify your not a criminal', or 'make sure bills come to your house in your name.' These are all crafty lies and they are just after your credit. Now they don't go do anything but try to get a system in your home with this credit but it is still illegal to do so without the customers permission last time I checked.
The reason I say this is the tip of the iceberg is that I was a manager for them and saw what they would let slide and it is ugly very ugly. I heard about this more than once so I know the owners Todd Pedersen and Kieth Nellesen of Orem Utah knew about what was happening. The fallowing actually has taken place with this company. Lets say that you did give them your information and they ran your credit but you decided you didn't want a system. That is fine but that isn't where it ended in some cases. I have heard of sales reps that then used that good credit and put it on a contract of somenoe who didn't have good credit down the street. They made them a co-signer on the contract basically. The question then is who signed the contract.
If you have had one of these peole come to your door and you gave them your birthdate social or sometimes just your name and address works I would check my credit and then call and report it to the proper authorities.
I would also suggest not doing business with them I left for ethics and believe me when I say this fish stinks from the head.
